第１２回日独学術コロキウム

12月9日から10日にかけて、ドイツ北部にあるキールにおいて第12回日独学術コロキウムを、キール大学、自然科学研究機構との共催で開催した。本コロキウムは、先端的科学分野のテーマを選定し、若手研究者を含む日独双方の専門家による研究発表と討論を行う小研究会で、第12回目となる今回は“Astrobiology”をテーマに、日独の研究者20名が参加した。コロキウムはキール大学動物学博物館を会場として行い、9日のオープニングでは、シュレスヴィッヒ・ホルシュタイン州副知事からの挨拶に続き、キール大学長から挨拶をいただき、今回のコロキウムを大学創立350周年記念事業の一つとして位置付け、これまでにない革新的な議論や研究者の交流に対する期待が述べられた。その後は、各セッションのテーマごとに、日独双方の研究者がそれぞれの研究内容をプレゼンし、議論を行う形で進行した。今回のテーマである“Astrobiology”はまだ発展途上の分野であり、天文学や生物学、宇宙工学、化学、地質学等の幅広く関連する分野の研究者が集まって議論を交わすユニークなセッションとなった。それぞれの研究者の研究内容の発表後には、様々な質問や意見もあり、お互いの研究領域を超えた見識を深めるべく活発な議論が交わされた。また、今回はドイツ側の意向により、スピーカーだけでなく、関連分野の研究者や若手研究者も聴講者として参加しており、例年のコロキウムに比べ、比較的規模の大きなものとなったが、聴講者からも質問等が飛び交うなど、盛況のうちに幕を閉じた。なお、前日の8日は参加者全員を対象としたスタディーツアーを実施し、ヘルムホルツ海洋研究センター（GEOMAR）を訪問した。ドイツを代表する数少ない海洋研究センターであり、日本の海洋研究開発機構（JAMSTEC）とも協力体制があるとのことで、参加者からは多くの関心を寄せられるとともに、貴重なネットワーキングの機会となった。
